Alexander, The Great Tutor
Christina Alexander, MA (Oxford)

One-on-one or group tutoring for students of any age.

Located in the Melbourne - Suntree area of Brevard County, FL.

Patient, sympathetic help in a wide range of subjects,
especially English grammar, reading and math (to Algebra One).

Knowing How To Learn
The ability to learn easily is both a talent and a skill. Some are born with it, and for these lucky ones the study of any subject requires little effort. But most of us, in order to become successful students, must be taught HOW to LEARN. Formal schooling usually fails to address this: it is assumed that, if we can read, we can learn. Of course, being able to read is essential, but it's only part of the picture. We can provide the rest, thereby helping any student to go quickly from struggling to successful.

Christina Alexander
Your tutor is a British-educated Oxford University graduate who specializes in English grammar and composition. She comes from a family of teachers and began helping out in younger classrooms while still at school herself. She is an experienced high school teacher and a certified professional training courses supervisor.

Say "No" To Drugs
When a student falls behind in school, parents may be told that the student has a "learning disorder" and needs to be medicated. This is almost never the case, and the types of drugs prescribed to schoolchildren can cause future problems far worse than low grades. Our policy is to refuse the drugs and use communication to find the real reason for whatever difficulties he or she is experiencing. In most cases the student can be helped to academic success entirely without drugs.

Additional Subjects
Although we specialize in English grammar, reading and math, we can also help with many other subjects. We find that students who have been taught a better way to learn can improve their grades across all areas, and we have experience in biology, drama, French, geography, German, history, science and social studies.

What some of our students have said
Here are a few comments from previous students and parents: "Thank you for being an inspiring and encouraging teacher." "I really enjoyed having you as a math teacher." "I cannnot express how blessed I feel to have been able to learn from such a wonderful person." "You are a dynamic teacher." "I really appreciate the time you had for me when I needed help." "#1 teacher!" "We all thoroughly enjoyed your lessons."
